THE FMX CHASSIS cab from Volvo Trucks, launched last year, was clearly the chassis cab of choice at Tip-Ex 2011. There where eight in total, with the new Taperlite lightweight muckaway, singleskin steel body from Flintshire-based Boweld Truck Bodies arguably the best.
Two FMX trucks sat on the Volvo Trucks stand, including a sleeper cab with the Euro-5 SCR 10.8-litre 8x4 truck with a PPG Smoothline tipper body for tarmac operations, Edbro CX14 tipping ram and Dawbarn Raptor top sheet, totalling 11,900kg in kerbweight.
Its sister truck, fitted with a day cab, has a 12.8-litre engine, with a 380hp engine, with a Thompson-built steel body. This has a 12,900kg kerb weight.
Group UK MD Göran Nyberg says demand for the FMX is exceeding expectations, despite the fragile economy.
