German drivers’ unions have lobbied the European Parliament (EP), demanding better air-conditioning in trucks. They sent their demands to the EP’s Petitions Committee stating that it should be compulsory to fit air-conditioning units that continue to function after the engine has been switched off.
The parliament’s Transport Committee has responded. “I’ve told them that many newer units have this facility and retrofitting is possible on some older units,” says Brian Simpson MEP, chairman of the committee.
