• ATES for hiring vehicles to the Post Office for the Christmas season have en agreed by the Metropolitan Area the National Association of Fumire Warehousemen and Removers and e Metropolitan and South-Eastern rea of the Road Haulage Association. ley are as follows:—
Van up to 250 cu. ft„ 9s. 9d. per hour us 61d. per mile over 50 miles each iy; 251-350 Cu. ft., 10s. 3d. plus 61(1.; 1-450 cu_ ft., I Is. plus 7-1d.; 451-900 I. ft., us. 6d. plus 7id.; over 900 Cu. ., 12s. 6d. plus 8d.
Recommended terms of tender are: ) Minimum daily hiring to be 8+ )urs; (2) minimum hiring on Sundays td Christmas Day to be 5+ hours; ;) extra 6d. per hour for night work nween the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.; 4) the amount of additional wages paid drivers for work on Bank Holidays, .undays, weekly short-days, etc., to be dded.
Members who submit tenders are warned to examine carefully the terms If contract and to ensure that any lability is fully covered by their own nsurance policies.
