• The profits of United Transport rose from £4.83m in 1968 to £5.15m in 1969, despite an increase of £950.000 in depreciation. Turnover was £52.9m. There was a strong revival of profits in Africa, but in the UK a substantial loss was incurred because of technical difficulties at the company's Duramin subsidiary in the repair of containers. It is understood that the difficulties have been resolved and a heavy order book is expected to redress the situation.
