• "By developing in transport I believe that we are taking part in the increase of one of our major growth industries," said Mr Kenneth Hargreaves in his statement at the a.g.m. of the Hargreaves Group last week. He emphasised that the group believed in specialized service at a fair price, and saw no future in poor service at a cut price.
Mr Hargreaves said he believed that the road system of Britain had to be developed and it was for this reason that the group had considerably increased its quarrying business during the past few years.
For the first time last year, each of the group's four main interests—fuel, quarrying and contracting, transport, and vehicle building and distribution, showed similar profits in the region of £200,000 /£300,000.
