ASTANDARD Bedford tipping vehicle has been modified by Hands (Letchworth), Ltd., Letchworth, Herts, so that it can serve in the dual capacity of tipper or articulated outfit, according to requirements.
The modifications called for vâ– ere only of a minor character, and included mounting the mudguards on the tractive unit instead of under the body, welding the heads of the ram securing nuts to facilitate the quick uncoupling of the ram from the body, and the provision of a strap behind the cab to hold the ram in an upright position when the body is removed.
The Hands semi-trailer is an 8-10-ton machinery carrier, its design embodying a rear axle that is detachable complete , with all brake gear and mudguards, a feature which makes for the easy loading of heavy indivisible units. The trailer is supplied with loading ramps and jacks.
