R. A. LISTER and Co Ltd, of Dursley, Gloucestershire, is supplyi around 80 air-cooled diesel engines each year to Whale Tankers use in municipal cleansing and effluent tankers for home and exp, orders.
In the 12 years since Whale Tankers began manufacturing a exporting tankers, the company has installed about 300 Lister d sels ranging from 5 to 24kW (7 to 32bhp).
Whales uses the ST air-cooled range to drive vacuum pumi which are relatively slow running, with a propellor shaft from t half-speed power take-off.
This is claimed to allow a simpler and reliable installation th using a gearbox or belt drive.
About half of the Whale Tankers output is exported with t largest market being the Middle East.
This 22,700-litre (500gal) Whale vacuum tanker is equipped with a pui driven by a Lister ST2 air-cooled diesel engine.
