4FTER LOOKING at those bright and shiny new trucks in the Commercial Vehicle Section of he Show, its only a short step to the Transport Equipment Section for a view of the products hat will help keep them on the road.
This year there will be comprehensive exhibits of commercial vehicle tools, diagnostic quipment, hoists, lifts, and, despite this being the year of the great drought, power-washing nachines.
Among the diagnostic :quipment exhibitors, Souriau 1.11() Ltd on stand 144 will be ;howing its new 1588 Dieselester, the latest addition to its
me of trouble-shooting nachinery. The company's wevious units concentrated on )etrol engined cars and motor:ycle diagnosis and tuning, and his is its first tester geared for he commercial vehicle market.
Using push-button selector ;witches, it can show RPM on
)-1500 or 0-7000 scales and iming on a 0-60:' scale. The legree of advance can be atained in the unit's memory Dr future reference.
Another firm marketing testlg machinery is Brown lrothers Ltd on stand 141. It till be showing its Autosense :omputerised Diagnostic quipment, a testing system lcorporating a computer oused in the console which ompares tested conditions rith performance specifica ons. A print-out shows what Dnditions failed or passed the )st, and what repair or other prrective actions are necesgy.
Brown Brothers will also be lowing their workshop, paint Id body shop equipment, :hich includes their ICI paint ackage, truck replacement 3rts and vehicle accessories.
Leslie Hartridge Ltd on and 147 will exhibit its chograph tester fitted to a 1400 Commercial Vehicle lassis dynamometer. Accordg to the firm, it can calibrate chographs !n less than two mutes, and can also be used to leek the performance of vehias with engine powers of up 370kW (500bhp).
The company will also be lowing 30 other products wn its diesel fuel-injection test id servicing equipment range, :luding the Hartridge Smog k3, a smoke tester. A newly formed company, Harlem-Wilcomatic Ltd, will be showing what it confidently claims will be the ''most comprehensive selection of car, commercial brake testers and engine analysers ever assembled together in Britain" on stand 136.
The company has been appointed distributor of Allen test equipment in Britain, and will be showing that company's 15-030 engine analyser and a new version, the 18-030 engine analyser. This version is being shown for the first time in this country at the Commercial Motor Show. A range of exhaust emission analysers, exhaust extraction units, battery chargers and portable test equipment will also be displayed.
Harlem-Wilcomatic is also distributor in Britain for Hans Hougaard of Denmark, manufacturer of the HH range of brake testers. A working model of the company's 500A brake tester will be on display.
On stand 139, Automotive Equipment Concessionaires will be showing the Merkisches Werk GmbH line of two post, above floor, mounted car hoists. For the first time in the UK, the company will be showing the 4-tonne mounted lift, which is, the company believes, the first 4-tonne lift of its kind in the country.
It will also be displaying its 3.2-21/2-tonne Consul lift, marketed in the OK for the past two years.
The special tools part of the V. L. Churchill & Co Ltd range is on view on stand 135. The exhibit shows the company's line of service tools for engines, gearboxes, axles, power steering, brakes, and other components for trucks, buses and coaches.
According .to the company, the majority of tools on display were developed in conjunction with the vehicle and component manufacturers to carry out essential servicing functions.
On stand 137, a wide range of pneumatically operated tools and commercial vehicle workshop equipment will be displayed and demonstrated by Consolidated Pneumatic Tool Co Ltd. Included on the stand will be torque-controlled impact wrenches and the CP 717 Zip Gun, a light power chisel designed for panel cutting, spot-weld splitting and other tasks.
Other tools on display include the CP Air-Kart, designed for use in tyre. depots or for general servicing, and the CP 869P, an air-operated angle polisher, shown for the first time.
Nilfisk Ltd, one of the Europe's largest manufacturers of suction cleaners, will be demonstrating several new products on stand 147, Among them is a compact filter unit, which when fitted to the exhaust outlet of a standard Nilfisk industrial cleaner enables the machine to retain 99.99 per cent of particles in accordance with BS 3928/65 sodium flame test.
The new filter makes it possible for the suction cleaner to retain ultra-fine dust particles such as asbestos, lead, ceramic, and other potentially dangerous health hazards.
Other new products include brake drum cleaners for both cars and light commercial vehicles, the 510A scrubber/polisher designed to replace the 510 and with substantial improvements over the superceded model,, and the GV 21 wet pick-up, another design improvement.
Modern Devices Ltd on stand 135 will be exhibiting models from its range of Vestin Power Washing and Steam Cleaning machines, including for the first time the new 13,800 kN /sq m (2000psi) Hot and Col Water Units. The company promises a display model for show visitors to test the features of the machines.
Also shown for the first time will be the Vestin portable liquid sprayer, designed to pre-spray detergents prior to water cleaning, and a completely new machine, a Parts Cleaner, for fast washing of components.
More washing machines will be demonstrated on stand 145 by the Warwick Pump and Engineering Co Ltd, Its full range includes small 350( kN/sq m (500psi) machines a well as the large 13,800 kN/st m (2000psi) washers, the latte of which gives a cleaning bias of 400mph.
Warwick's line of accessorie is to be demonstrated as wel including the first showing of new machine called Magi Broom, designed for floc cleaning without flooding c splashing.
