SEVERAL firms have asked the Road Transport Industry Training Board for advice on the type or records of training they should keep to back claims for grants for the period from August 1.
The Board's director of administration, Mr. J. M. Carlin, told CM this week that the Board does not intend to specify the exact form these records should take nor does it wish that unduly elaborate records should be kept. At the moment it merely wants: 1. Name, date of birth and staff/check numbers of trainee. 2. Occupation (or intended occupation) of trainee.
3. Length of training (including dates of block or day release courses, etc.).
4. Receipts for tuition fees, hotel, travelling and other incidental expenses incurred in attending courses or conferences, as proof of attendance.
These records may be kept in any form such as cards, registers, wallcharts, punch cards, paper tape, etc., always provided that they can be inspected by the Board's assessors when visiting the company.
