THE full range of Ford vehicles was shown at a May Fair which the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., held at North Weald R.A.F. Station, Essex, from Monday to Thursday this week. Operatbrs from all over the U.K. attended and had the opportunity of driving the latest models, both cars and commercial vehicles.
About 160 vehicles were On show, including Thames chassis with a very wide range of standard and special bodies and equipment.
Of particular interest was a Trader normal-control 2-ton chassis with a 450-cu.-ft. all-steel van body by Garner Motors, Ltd., Sunbury-on-Thames, Middx, which is intended to go into line production by Ford later in the year. The body has sliding doors at both sides for access to the driving area; wide step wells at both these doors for easy access; no division between the driving and load areas; kerb sighting windows; a translucent panel in the roof; a wrap-round rubber buffer at the rear of the body; and drop-down steps at the rear.
The floor is flat throughout and about 3 ft. above the ground when unladen, whilst the maximum interior height is about 6 ft. The rear body opening is closed by a roller shutter.
