"The High," Crosthwaite, near Kendal, failed last Friday in a High Court appeal against the refusal of the Compensation Appeal Tribunal to vary a decision of the British Transport Commission to terminate compensation which it had been paying to him under the 1953 Transport Act.

DELIVERY OF LICENCES
AS from May 15 the recorded delivery service can be used instead of registered post to send licence notices or certificates to public service and goods vehicle operators and to p.s.v. drivers and conductors. The basic need is to ensure that the notice has been delivered and it is considered that the new postal service satisfies this requirement and so avoids the need for registration.
