Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

T" Ford Motor Co. Ltd. has announced that nearly 170 of its established dealers

throughout the United Kingdom have been given "truck specialist" status, these dealers having undertaken to provide round-the-clock roadside repair and recovery seven days a week. Some of those on busy night trunk routes will, in addition, offer a 24-hour emergency repair service at their premises.

All these truck specialist dealers are listed on pages 78-87 of this issue, to provide an entry for Ford (Thames) in the survey of emergency service facilities originally published in The Commercial Motor on January 15 this year. The specialist dealers are organized. says Ford, to give expert advice' on commercial vehicle choice, while to qualify for inclusion in the scheme they most have: a separate, fully equipped heavy commercial vehicle service area staffed by Ford-trained personnel; specially equipped service bays: a breakdown vehicle. capable of towing all sizes of commercial vehicle, available clay and night; a separate and complete Thames commercial parts stock, including major assemblies such as engines arid axles; an executive with sole responsibility for heavy commercial vehicle operations; an expert sates staff; and covered display space for examples of the Ford truck range.

The dealers who meet these stringent requirements have been chosen after a detailed investigation by district managers: the specialist dealers' fully equipped premises will be designated " truck centres".

At a Press luncheon last week Mr. S. G. Forsyth, director of Ford's commercial vehicle division, said that safety, service and satisfaction were the words that meant most to the organization; the new scheme showed the concerted effort of the Ford team to provide for all lorry operators nation-wide facilities for the highest standards of maintenance.
