says parking authorities must recognise the problems encountered by delivery firms: "It's things like the 20-minute rule that cause us problems.
"If you're delivering 3.5 tonnes of beer to a pub in the centre of town then you aren't going to be there for just 20 minutes and still manage to do it safely. We aren't rushing our crews at the expense of health and safety."
Steve Bennett, head of fleet management at Securicor Cash Services, comments: "We're always going to get tickets because we'll always break the law. We don't want our staff having to walk a mile and a half with bags of cash; our responsibility is to lessen the distance our staff can get attacked in."
He says that about 400 staff a year are attacked.
