head-rest for passenger-vehicle seats has recently been introduced by Messrs. David Bloom, of 08, Northumberland Street, Neweastle-on-Tyne, the patentee being Mr. A. C. Warsop, of Nottingham.
It consists of a base upon which the framework of the head-rest proper is built up. Cranked supports, which fit into metal sheaths fixed to the seat back, are attached to two mountings. At right angles to the base, plates are bolted, there being two at each end. Through each pair of angle plates a bolt passes, this forming a pivot for the baseboard of the head-rest.
Each of the two mountings carries a couple of spring-loaded balls, which can be made to bed into any pair of six recesses in the angle plates, thus permitting the rake of the head-rest to be altered to suit individual requirements.
This device is available in three fittings, model A being intended for incorporation in the seat during the process of manufacture. If it be desired to make the head-rests removable, model B may be employed. In this case the metal sheaths previously mentioned are fixed to the seat back and the head-rest supports slide into them, the constructional features being concealed by the seat trimming,
Type C is useful when it is desired to fit head-rests to existing seats,thecanie no alteration to the back is necessary, Whilst a neat appearance is obtained. If dimensions be supplied, the distributors can quote for head-rests, either stuffed or unstated.
