• The Road Haulage Association has lodged objections against two 0-licence applications which are to be heard in the Northern and Yorkshire traffic areas in the near future, and it is believed that both objections have been made on the grounds of insufficient finances.
In the case of Clare Construction Company, Newcastle, the RHA has objected to the company's six-vehicle application after it was found that the managing director of the firm, Mr M. T. Reddan, is a director of Reddan Bros Ltd which has gone into liquidation. Certain members of the RHA have been contracted by this company and are still owed sums of money.
The second application to receive an objection from the RHA has been made by HWF (Warehousing and Forwarding) Ltd, of Hull, and is for five vehicles and 14 trailers. CM has been told that the director and secretary of the applicant company were formerly secretary and director respectively of Debline Transport Ltd, Hull, which is now insolvent and has in the past received several convictions for overloading and failing to display vehicle excise discs.
