North Woolwichbased Daniel Garrett has been ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £1.985 for using a vehicle without an Operator's Licence and overloading offences.
When Garrett appeared before Barking magistrates he admitted the unauthorised use and exceeding the permitted gross, first and second axle weights on a two-axle rigid.
Prosecuting for the Vehicle Inspectorate, Anthony Dstrin told the court that the vehicle had been stopped in a roadside check at Dagenham while being driven by Garrett. No 0licence identity disc was displayed and checks revealed that he did not hold a licence.
The vehicle was subsequently stopped in a check while being driven by Charles Blackhall. It was found that the permitted first axle weight had been exceeded by 174% and the second axle by 27%. The gross weight had been exceeded by 9.8%.
In a letter to the court Blackball stated that the vehicle had been loaded at a customer's premises by the customer's staff and he had been unaware that it was
over the maximum limit.
The magistrates fined Garrett £600 for the unauthorised use and .£900 for the overloading offences. In addition, he was ordered to pay £485 costs. Blackhall was tined 1600 with £70 costs.
