• Police are warning drivers to be extra vigilant in the run-up to Christmas following another hijacking at a service station.
Thieves made off with £250,000 of electrical goods after seizing a truck at Strensham services on the M5 near Worcester.
The attack happened at 22:30 hrs on 21 November as driver Paul Shea of Russell Davies Distribution pulled in for the night. As Shea got out of his cab, several men bundled him into the back of a dark blue Escort van.
He was driven around for some hours before being tied up and left in his cab at the Forest Hill lay-by on the M40 near Oxford. After 20 minutes he managed to free himself and call the police. The semi had been emptied.
Police are anxious to hear from anyone who noticed the truck between the attack and the time it was dumped.
The Volvo FL10 cab, registration number H262 CMG, is painted white with the Dixons logo; the trailer is white on a grey chassis. Contact Detective Inspector Graham Smith on (0905) 723888.
