• Manpower transport anti distribution employers have bucked the national trend by showing increased confidence in job prospects.
A survey by employment services group Manpower shows 30% of employers from the sector forecast more jobs against 6% predicting fewer. The balance of 24% is 4% higher than at the same time last year.
More than 100 companies in transport and distribution were questioned.
Employer confidence about jobs has generally declined since last year, but Manpower says that transport and distribution is one of the few positive sectors in the UK economy, standing joint second behind telecommunications.
