SURREY HAULIER Quickshift UK has re-joined UPN (United Pallet Network) to capitalise on the pallet network's growing volumes, it says.
Paul Burr, MD at the Hookwood firm, tells CM his company
has been covering distribution in Red-hill, Surrey, and parts of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, for UPN since 4 January.
However, it is Quickshift's second stint at UPN: it was a founding member but stayed only a little over two years at the network.
"The first time round we wanted to pursue other revenue avenues, but last year we were impressed with UPN's new hub, IT investments and the high levels of freight it has been handling. We felt joining again was a good business opportunity," says Burr.
The company is already handling about 50 pallets a day via UPN and expects this to rise steadily, while Burr is also hoping to win new contracts by being able to offer clients more cost-effective pallet rates.
Burr adds: "It has been a busy 12 months for us, with revenue growth and higher margins, and I aim for this pattern to continue."
