OPERATORS who want receipts for tolls paid on the Humber Bridge will have to pay in advance and buy vouchers in books of 20.
Because the toll collection system is computerised, the Humber Bridge Board is unable to issue receipts on the bridge, which opens to traffic next Wednesday, June 24.
But books of 20 tickets, with a five per cent discount on the appropriate toll for the class of vehicle involved (CM, September 6, 1980), are available at various council offices in North and South Humberside.
Contrary to earlier information from the Board, these do have receipt stubs, and a receipt will be issued to the operator when it buys the book.
The Board is reluctant to post voucher books to operators, as these would need to be sent by registered mail; but operators with special difficulties should write to the Humber Bridge Board at the Administrative Building, Ferriby Road, Hessle, North Humberside.
