THE transport committee of Cardiff
City Council has authorized the fitting of a Ruston air-cooled six-cylinder diesel engine in one of the 17 Guy double-decker buses now on order. it is stated that the additional cost for this engine compared with the standard watercooled unit is £55, against which is set an allowance of £83 by elimination of a conventional saloon heating unit. As a certain amount of ducting will be required to convey warm air to the passenger saloons the net saving will probably be spent on this.
