THE Minisiry of Supply has reenforced the provision of the Control of Rubber Tyres (No. 4) Order which prohibited the delivery, by retreaders, of retreaded tyres to anyone except authorized tyre depots. After the Order came into force a Direction (No. I) was issued which permitted retreaded tyres, received by retreaders before April 4, to be delivered to the customers from whom they had been received. The new Direction (No. 3) withdraws 'this permission.
GUIDANCE FOR OPERATORS WANTING ALTERNATIVE FUELS
BECAUSE of lack of information particulars required, numerous
operators in the north-eastern region have made incomplete applications for licences to use alternative fuels.
In a letter circulated to operators' organizations in Yorkshire, the Regional Transport • Commissioner's headquarters say that much time and correspondence will be saved if, in operators' original applications, the following particulars are given:—Index mark and registration number; make; type; chassis number; unladen weight or seating capacity; type of alternative fuel to be used; whether the vehicle is engaged on essential work for which road transport is necessary (i.e.. work which up till now will have justified the issue of petrol or oil fuel).
S.M.T. CAPITAL REDUCTION SCHEME CONFIRMED
THE plea by the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., that it should be Permitted to reduce its capital from £2,750,000 to £2,414,673 has been confirmed by the Court of Session, Edinburgh. Repayment will be made to the extent of 25 per cent, of the holdings of ordinary shares, The approval
dates as from August 4.
