AS foreshadowed in the issue of The Commercial Motor dated December 7, Southdown Motor Services, Ltd., last week applied to the South-Eastern Traffic Commissioners for authority to introduce through bookings on all points of its bus services,
Objections were lodged by the Motor Hirers and Coach Services Association and individual operators, to ascertain whether new concessions were being sought and to ensure that existing facilities were properly endorsed on the company's licences. It was shown, however, that facilities of this type had existed for some years, and the applications were granted.
Sir Henry Piggott, chairman of the Commissioners, said that a different 'decision would have had to have been given if a new departure had been proposed.
• The objections in the Metropolitan Area were withdrawn later in the week. n2.4.
