AFIER a protracted dispute between the Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd., and Gla.sgow Corporation, the company obtained authority, last Friday, to operate buses to and from its new station in Killermont Street, via Buchanan Street, Glasgow. The company wished to operate 57 buses per hour from the station, with a peakhour frequency of 91 buses. •
The corporation maintained that the granting of the application would increase traffic congestion, but Mr. R. Beveridge, the company's commercial manager, was of the opinion that the city had no real traffic problem.
The Southern Scotland Traffic Commissioners granted the application, but reserved the right to consider the whole problem. If they found that congestion arose they might find it necessary to remove certain services, as well as duplicate vehicles, from the station.
