WITHOUT a revision in bus fares, Crosville Motor Services Ltd, of Wrexham, would have been faced with a deficit of around £2m by the end of this year, the North Western Traffic Commissioners were told last week; Crosville was successfully applying to increase its bus fares from March 8, Eight local authorities objected.
The Commissioners heard that since August last year overheads had risen by nearly £4m; mainly through increased wages and general inflation.
On granting the increases — of between 1 p and 8p — the chairman, Mr C. R. Hodgson, said that the Commissioners felt that the application was not unreasonable.
