Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Speculation about a possible take-over of Edinburgh Corporation bus services by Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. was revived by remarks made at a meeting of the town council's transport committee early last week.

Cllr. John D. Kidd suggested the committee should approach the .company with a view to their taking over the city's bus undertaking.

Cub. Mrs. Catherine Filsell, chairman, told Cllr. Kidd—an outspoken critic of the corporation's bus services, which are at present run ning at a loss—that he had made his proposal at an inappropriate time.

Mrs. Filsell said a special sub-committee would be meeting shortly to discuss transport in the city generally and until that meeting had been held it would be inappropriate to take further action.

The special sub-committee met in private on Monday and "will make recommendations to the transport committee in due course"
