DEMOUNTABLE van bodies which include a special refrigerated compartment for perishable foods are'part °tan order for Freight Bonaliack demountable equipment from Tates Ltd of Grimsby, the grocery chain.
The special bodies are 4.5m (14ft 8in) long and are divided into a rear section with a length of 2.7rn (9f0and a shorter refrigerated forward compartment of 1.5m (5ft) long. The van is entered by a roller-shutter doorway midway along the nearside, and access to the refrigerated compartment is through a central door in the dividing bulkhead.
The bodies are constructed in aluminium alloy, incorporating 10.2cm (4in) insulation in the walls of the forward compartment. Refrigeration is provided by a Prestocold AS50 singlephase unit, rechargeable from a mains electricity supply.
So far three of the special semi-refrigerated demounts have been supplied to Tates. along with four identically sized dry-freight boxvan bodies which have rollershutter entry and are fitted with Rees and Bonnyman 10cwt tail-lifts.
The bodies are being used by Tates Ltd with five 7-tongross Ford chassis to combine long-distance and local grocery deliveries. Tates operate 14 food stores in the Grimsby area and a similar number around Stoke on Trent
