The suspensions are being stalled by Rydewell ispensions Ltd, Brighouse, est Yorkshire, to the order civil engineering contractor ruling Dutco, Dubai. The ,mpany is specifying rdewell rubber suspension to minate spring failures on rsh roads.
Two 1,818-litre (4,000 Llion) six-wheeled Foden nkers and two Foden threele tractive units for ticulated operation are ing equipped with Rydewell spension in this £200,000 :port order, which also eludes two 3,636-litre (8,000rllon) tank semi-trailers, ;ain on Rydewell rubber spension.
The springs themselves are ;lined multiple sandwiches of rubber bonded to steel plates.
About 255mm (10in) articulation is afforded between the two axles of the bogie, whether the axles are driven or non-driven. Bonded rubber bushes are employed at all pivot points, eliminating any need for lubrication, and there is no metal-to-metal contact to cause wear.
Each of the export Fodens is powered by a turbocharged 216kW (290bhp) Cummins engine, driving through an eight-speed gearbox and 16ton double-reduction axles. The chassis are rated for a gvw of 36 tonnes in the rigid application and 65 tonnes gtw as a tractive unit.
The two rigid tankers will be carrying diesel fuel, while the artics are for fresh water haulage.
