SOME kind of subsidy or financial help must be
given to the London Transport Board, said Mr. A. Evershed, the Board's chief financial officer, on Tuesday. He was giving evidence to the Transport Tribunal, sitting in London to consider the confirmation of the increased fares which came into effect in January.
Mr. Evershed described the financial position of LTB as "extremely unsound" and the future as "obscure". Any subsidy or help must be raised by the Government—by some body of persons other than the passengers, he declared.
