• Renault dealer Woodwards of Wigan has won the manufacturer's Aftermarket Dealer of the Year Award for main dealers. A t00% response to breakdowns in its territory—it attended around 500 in 2000—and exceeding its parts sales targets helped the firm scoop top prize, says aftersales manager, Steve Kenwright.

Woodwards covers the NorthWest, including Liverpool and Wigan, as well as much of North Wales. Like fellow dealer Thompson of Hull, Woodwards is finding it hard to recruit technicians (see story, opposite).

"It's more difficult these days than it was in the past to attract high calibre fitters," says Kenwright.
