• Are security and loading staff made aware of the dangers of moving vehicles?
• If reversing is unavoidable, could you fit additional mirrors or cameras on vehicles?
• Is there a one-way system for vehicles and separate pedestrian routes?
• Would a driver from another firm know where to go and where to park safely?
• Do vehicle routes have sharp or blind bends and corners?
• Are your fork-lift truck drivers trained, certified and regularly monitored?
• Have you considered alarms that sound if the handbrake is left off? Accidents with handbrakes kill several drivers every year.
• Do drivers always use trailer-parking brakes rather than relying on disconnecting the red line?
• Are sheeting operations carried out with as little climbing on vehicles as possible?
• Is there an inspection procedure for ropes, straps, curtains and sheets to make sure they're still safe?
• Are there systems for checking if a load has shifted in transit?
