• Car transporter Walon has increased its first-quarter turnover by £2.4m to £7.8m. It attributes the profit hike to increasing demand for new cars and new Rover and Proton contracts worth "several million pounds" a year. The company has brought 35 trucks from its Continental car transporter operations into the UK to deal with the anticipated August rush on L-registration cars; the vehicles are available because of a slowdown in . the Continental market.
