• Strathclyde Regional Council is investing £1.3m in 40 gulley emptiers and 5.0m3 glitter RapiDemount swap body systems from Whale Tankers.
These join the Scottish council's 20 new left-hand-drive Volvo FL614 rigid chassis. The order includes six Whale MonoWhale low-volume gulley emptier/jetter combinations with moving divisions for one-man operation. All the tankers have the latest hydraulic rear door clamping.
Fl Dorset Works Organisation has ordered 16 RapiDemount systems for use with eight 11 and 17-tonne Volvo rigids. Five 11tonners will operate with three-way tipper and 35m3 glitter bodies: the heavier chassis will carry gulley emptier/jetters or 6.0m3 gritter systems. Derbyshire County Council has also ordered 22 Whale swap bodies.
