vehicle observer corps to combat lorry thefts, on the lines of the one operating successfully in London. This was agreed at a meeting on Monday organized by the Scottish area of the R.H.A., whose secretary, Mr. L. J. Stokoe, is now enrolling firms willing to provide cars and drivers. Several prominent hauliers have agreed to take part, and it is expected that. when T.R.T.A, representatives have reported back to their association, C-licensees will join in. The Glasgow scheme is expected to be operating before Christmas.
B.R.S. has already agreed to take part,' the Glasgow police have promised co-operation, and British Railways may join the scheme. Last year there were over 1,700 thefts of or from lorries in the Glasgow area
