IT is now certain that at least two vehicles at the Scottish Motor Show, which opens at Kelvin Hall on November 12, will have the new Perkins V8.5I0 diesel engine.
One of these will be a prototype ERF tractive unit, whilst the other will be a Dennis Maxim six-wheeler. Both will be seen on the demonstration park and whilst the ERF will be featured by the chassis manufacturers, the Dennis will be shown by Perkins Engines Ltd. It is likely that a chassis with a Perkins V8 will also be featured inside the hall by another chassis manufacturer.
Big Export Orders for Ford Transit: Export orders worth more than E3-6m. had been received by Ford of Britain for its new Transit range of vans and medium commercial vehicles by October 8, the day the range was unveiled in Britain. The Transit range replaces the 10/12-15 cwt. range of Thames vans, and body variations range from chassis/cabs to buses (The Commercial Motor, October 8).
