Following assembly ever Leyland engine undergoes a intensive test programme col sisting of two schedules; first 'running-in' and then the 'fin, test' carried out on moder test rigs.
During the 'running-in' perio which varies according to engir size, careful checks are kept o the oil flow. On completion the 'warm-up' the engine stopped and any minor adjus meats carried out.
After 'warm-up' the engine mu: pass a full power test schedul as laid down by Leyland provin engineers. This basically cor sists of testing the b.h.p. an fuel consumption at differei speeds with full brake loa applied against the power curvi
