a high standard of comfort has recently been placed in service by Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. to operate the 42-mile service from Edinburgh to Galashiels via Peebles. Features of the bodies, which were built by Walter Alexander and Sons Ltd., Falkirk, include fixed glazing, individual adjustable fresh-air ventilators, and a heating system of the latest " Dawson " type.
The buses are 36 ft. long by 8 ft. 2+ in. wide, and seat 49 passengers.
Transparent opening roof panels are fitted, and can be adjusted for extraction or intake. Wrap-round. one-piece windscreens are fitted, with similar windows at the rear, and interior lighting is by means of fluorescent tubes.
By repositioning some 'chassis units, maximum boot and side luggage locker accommodation has been made available, with a total capacity, excluding luggage racks, of 130 Cu. ft. The heating system is to a new design by the company's chief engineer.
