PAA SIMPLE but effective method of allowing relative movement between a tractor and a trailer is shown in patent No. 910,660. (Robert Hudson Ltd., Raletrux House, Meadow Lane, Leeds, 11.) To the tractor axle (1) is clamped a bracket having a horizontal pivot-pin (2). This accommodates relative up-and-down movement of the tow-bar (3). The latter is attached to a pivot assembly (4) having freedom to turn about both horizontal and vertical axes; it forms in effect a universal joint. All this is attached to the trailer by a yoke (5).
Power braking and tipping of the trailer may be performed hydraulically; a fragment of piping for these purposes is shown at 6.
