TRAFFIC wardens appointed to administer parking meter schemes "tended to be officious at first, but after a time settled down to carry out their functions in a reasonable manner ". This verdict has been given by the Highways and Vehicles Committee of the Road Haulage Association after considering a suggestion from members in East Cheshire that an investigation be made into wardens' powers and duties.
