. "traffic congestion " on ,:its The Road Traffic Bill is 'waiting to go ifito .committee, but the slow=moving Transport Bill is keeping itout, writes our political correspondent.
It was hoped that the Traffic Bill: which has been through. the Lords, would follow the Transport Bill into _Commons. Committee E.
But thiS committee is making heavy
weather of the Transport -It would be a bold man who suggested it would be ready for reporting and third ;reading on. thefloor ofthe Commons by Easter.
Despite the gingering-up process of holding three. meetings a week, it has still a long and contentious way to go before it is ready for the Lords.
In addition to much other business, there is an important transport bill which has not yet seen the light of day. This is the Trunk Pipelines Bill; promised. by the Government to achieve the orderly control of pipeline development. •
