I READ with great interest the Know the Law article by Les Oldridge (CM, December 12, 1981). It gives a very clear precis of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 which will effect every one of your readers.
However, there is one point in the article that I feel is
misleading and could give a false impression to your readers. There is a picture of a first aid kit showing the contents, many of which are of our manufacturer but if a kit as illustrated were in fact supplied it would be infringing the new regulations. These state that the contents should comprise certain dressings "and nothing else". (Page 17, paragraph 5).
Our new brochure shows kits that comply with the regulations and has been approved by the Health & Safety Executive and if you compare the illustration with the approved contents the following items would have to be taken out: cotton wool; No. 7 finger bandage; elastic adhesive bandage; and any pills or lotions or creams.
