A COACHBUILT six-seat crew cab is PA a notable feature of refusecollector bodies of varying capacities recently completed by the Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd., Warwick, mounted on Austin 5-ton long-wheelbase forward-control chassis.
The cab has a modern appearance and excellent visibility has been achieved by combining a full-depth windscreen with rounded Perspex corners and thin pillars. The side windows are of the sliding type and the doors are located to the rear of the mudguards so that access is unobstructed. The mudguards are of the straight-edged " square " type and blend attractively with the cab lines.
Two bucket seats are provided for the driver and mate, and a full-width upholstered seat for the four loaders. This is hinged and forms the lid of a locker.
An Austin-based Eagle Derby-type refuse body of 14-cu.-yd. capacity, fitted with the cab, has been supplied by Voss B14 Motors, Ltd., Liverpool, to Huyton With Roby Urban District Council and a similar vehicle with a 10-cu.-yd. body is being used by Shardlow Rural District Council.
Deep glazed panels, and doors unobstructed by front wheel-arches are features of this Derby-type vehicle based on an Austin 5-ton long-wheelbase forward-control chassis. The body is of 14-cu.-yd. capacity.
