• Specialist heating i nanufacturer Ambi-Rad is introducing a continuous tube Nor-Ray-Vac LR system. With this system a tube is routed up and down the workshop with burners at intervals along the tube.
The hot gases pass along the tube and the heat radiates down to warm the surfaces and people in the workshop. Typical savings are between 25-50% but some companies have seen heating costs reduced by 60%, says Ambi-Rad. Another innovation by the company is a portable catalytic heater which can be used in areas where there are flammable liquids or gases. The 7kW heater is powered by LPG or natural gas which undergoes an exothermic reaction when passing through the catalyst. To prove the non-combustible nature of the heater, demonstrations were given with white spirit being thrown on to the hot element.
