A PROTOTYPE double-deck chassis from Dennis Motors of Guildford could be on the road early next year. John Jackson, Dennis sales director, told CM this week that plans for the vehicle were in an advanced stage. He said that Dennis had secured supplies of all necessary components for the chassis, including Gardner engines but was at present working independently of any bodybuilder. The gearbox would probably be a Voith fully automatic unit.
Mr Jackson was not worried by the growing number of rivals for the double-deck market. He said that the Dennis would be a quality chassis, different to—and maybe more expensive than—chassis planned or produced at present.
