A NORTHERN IRISH driver has been arrested and charged with illegal importation of rebated fuel following a customs raid.

Customs officers seized a tanker, oil laundering equipment and 50.000 litres of fuel at Castleblaney, less than a mile south of the border with Northern Ireland.
The laundry could process 50,000 litres of diesel a week, which could cost the Exchequer up to £780,000 a year.
In a separate operation, a road fuel tanker containing 16,400 litres of petrol has been seized en-route from an illegal laundry in Donegal. Several people were questioned following the seizure and charges may follow.
