CHARITY CONVOY 2000 is appealing to operators to donate warehouse space around the M25 to store emergency supplies for its next humanitarian aid trip to Eastern Europe.
The UK charity, which brings together volunteers from a range of organisations including the Metropolitan Police, Rotary International and Aid for Children, runs an annual truck convoy to Sunshine House, a Romanian children's hospice. Earlier this year the group, whose sponsors include Renault,TIP and BP, took out its fourth convoy of 13 trucks and three support vehicles loaded with medical supplies, building materials, toys and clothes to the centre in Constanta.
Convoy leader Roger Brooks says:"We are already planning our fifth trip next June and urgently need space to store donations. Even if an operator can only store a couple of pallets it would be a big help. We would also appreciate any donations of roofing, plumbing and building materials."
