British Sugar's Bury St Edmunds factor (the firm's second largest) can process 12.000 tonnes of beet a day. Typically. 1.400 tonnes of crystal sugar are produced a day.

CMvisits some interesting spots but it's not every day that we are given a guided tour of a sugar factory. Robin Limb, British Sugar agricultural business manager. says that the Bury St Edmunds plant has its own boiler house which produces 14.5 megawatts of electricity for the site.
