For the year 'ended March 31st 1932, the total working expenses of the Salford tramways amounted to £326,522, as compared with 1358,789 in the previous year, the income being 1357,616 against /383,973. The balance carried to the credit of the profit and loss account is, therefore, £31,094, compared with 125,184.
On the motorbus system the total working expenses came to 1161,928, compared with 1153,613, and the income to £197,581, compared with /187,382, showing a credit balance of £35,653, compared with £33,769, The profit and loss account shows a surplus on the trams of 16,149. against no surplus in 1930-1931, whilst on the buses the figure is £6,436 against 17,951.
