A STRONGLY-CONSTRUCTED, four-wheel, close-coupled 4-1 trailer, built to carry crawler tractors, other wheeled machinery and general contractors' loads, has been introduced by Tollbridge Trailers Ltd. Called the FB.7.WR, it has a capacity of 6 tons_
The loading platform is quite low, and ample Steel eyes are provided for securing toads. Good towing qualities are claimed: the wheels are positioned so that the centre of gravity of the trailer with load falls 10 per cent-forward of the centre point between the axles. There.is_also careful toe-in adjustment of the wheels and an efficient braking system.
, The combined chassis and frame is Made from rustproofed steel with welded and re-rustproofed joint's, the platform and ramps are timber clad. Suspension is by. independent rubber torsion units on all four wheels. ,A strong, easily-maintained rod linkage system, with an overrun device on the heavy-duty eye hitch, operates large drum brakes on'all.wheels. A heavyduty telescopic jockey wheel, and handles fo,r easy manceuvring, are fitted to the towbar; there is also a powerful geared winch with handbrake for loading wheeled machinery.
At the rear of the trailer are drop stands for loading, a fixed number plate, slots for locating the loading ramps (when not in use these are carried on top of the trailer forming part of the centre section of the platform) and tail, stop and indicator lights.
The two fixed 15 ft.-long platforms will carry 'wheeled machinery with external tracks of up to 6 ft overall width and internal track measurements of as little.as 3 ft.'
