• The general manager of the Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co. Ltd., Mr. D. R. Vernon, has disclosed that the company's application for permission to step up bus fares on through stage carriage and express services, which was due to be heard in Leeds, has been withdrawn.
He said his company had reconsidered its position and decided to withdraw the application for the time being, and the company had notified the Traffic Commissioners and the local authorities concerned accordingly. But this did not mean that a further application to increase bus fares would not be made at some future time.
Recently the , Commissioners turned down an application to increase fares made by the West Yorkshire Road Car Co. Ltd.
